This is Erica x x darleyensis Silberschmelze - or Silver Bells if like me, you don't know a lot of German. A pure white flowering heather which has been flowering for some few weeks now. Like all plants, especially at this time of year the length of flowering time is dependent on temperature - low temperatures means a longer flowering period. Like all heathers once the flowers have finished and turned brown cut them back to just below the flowering section as this encourages new compact growth and better flowering next year. Feed with an ericaceous (acidic) fertiliser during flowering and a little after to encourage new growth and put something back into the plant which has put a lot of energy and effort into flowering.
